Removing Hair

Both men and women are faced with the question of hair removal. Men have never questioned how to remove unwanted hair because it has always been a natural part of their life to shave. In fact, for most pre-teens to early teens, the day they begin shaving is a milestone in their lives. Women, however, do not share this feeling of attachment to hair removal. The thought of finding a more natural way for removing hair than shaving is something that has plagued women for centuries, and some of those methods are certainly more popular than others are. Though some of these method may not seem like they are natural remedies for hair removal, they are an improvement over the use of home remedies that may have existed in the past, including the use of a straight razor instead of shavers as we have today.

Natural remedies for hair removal excluding shaving work with the hair follicles, though slowing down or preventing the growth of new hair. Some of these processes may produce minor discomfort that will shortly subside.

Home Remedies for Removing Hair:

Depilatories:

For women, at least, this is probably the most popular method of hair removal. Products such as Nair, Neet, and other similar products have been on the market for many years. The process has improved of application has improved during that time to one that is much easier. During its inception, the way it was used was to apply it liberally to the areas where hair needed removed. After a wait of five or ten minutes, the hair was removed with a washcloth. Today the process is similar, but it can be rinsed in the shower. Of course, for those who have stubborn hair, the need may still exist for some pressure to be applied in order to remove the hair. Depending upon how quickly your hair grows, the process usually lasts two to four weeks.

Waxing:

To remove unwanted hair, a wax substance is applied to the area where the hair is to be removed and left to gel. The wax is then removed along with the underlying hairs. Although this method works better than shaving because the hair is removed from the roots, and thus takes longer to grow back, for those who have sensitive skin, redness and irritation may occur.

Electrolysis:

If you want to remove hair permanently, electrolysis is one method of accomplishing that. To accomplish hair removal, a metal probe is inserted into the hair follicle next to the hair. A small amount of electric current is delivered to the probe using an epilator. The electric current destroys the hair root by heat or chemical action and sometimes by using both at the same time.
